Dr. Nancy Lane, D. Phil., SC.D.,LLD (Hon),D.Sc. (Hon), F.I. Biol., OBE, completed her undergraduate studies in Biology at Dalhousie University, and received the Governor General's gold medal for top graduate. She completed her doctoral degree in Zoology at Oxford and carried on her post-doctoral research studies at New York's Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Yale. She returned to England to join the neurobiological research unit in the Zoology Department of Cambridge University, where she is now a renowned cell biologist and Senior Research Associate. In 1994 Dr. Lane was named a member of the Order of the British Empire in the Queen's Birthday Honours List for services to sciences. Dr. Lane visits Nova Scotia frequently to spend time with family and a wide network of long-time friends.
